Exploration Phase Cards Drawn:
[K♣, 5◆, 9◆, 10◆, Q♥]
Brer lay where she had fallen for who knew how long, gasping with pain every time she moved with the damage done to her arm. Bea hovered around uncertainly, scouting around but never going too far before returning to her master. The Rookling that Brer had pulled from the heart of the attacking Rook had picked itself up from where she had dropped it and now stood stock still like a statue at her side. The night wore on. Still Brer couldn't drag herself to her feet.

Eventually the pain subsided to a point where she was able to move enough to strap the wounded limb with a spare belt and secure it in place across her front. With this done Brer took stock of any other injuries she may have taken. There were bruises and small cuts all over her, with one larger gash on her left temple that she had to wash in the Coral but other than that she was remarkably undamaged. Thanking her creator that it was not her right wrist broken Brer gathered her bag and supplies, sheathed her sword, and set off through the dark to get as far away from the downed Rook as possible.
It was only after half an hour of stumbling through the dark up the slopes through the sparse pine forest that she realised she was being followed; the Rookling was several feet behind her and doggedly trotting along at her heels. She turned, hunkering down and waiting as it approached. "I AM THUD. YOU ARE NOW MASTER" it projected, with a very final sounding "thud" of its arm on the ground. Brer stared, Thud stared back. Brer shrugged. It seems she was now the twice-followed. She nodded and smiled "Thud, meet Bea. Bea - Thud" and then turned and continued.

Thud the Rumble Rookling |
Somehow she felt a little safer with the little Rumble Rookling around.
Skeletons and Bodies (9◆, 5◆)
It was approaching midnight when she found it; what she had originally taken for a small hill suddenly loomed out of the dark and she found herself staring deep into the eye-sockets of an absolutely gargantuan skull. Suddenly she realised that the long straight "field edges" she had been following were nothing of the sort - they were other bones of a similar scale. She had stumbled upon a Massive Skeleton; a relic of a time no one remembered and a place avoided by all right-thinking people.

Brer was just about to turn and run when something glimpsed out of the corner of her eye made her stop - there was another Roomlander sat inside the skull watching her but making no threatening moves. Actually the person wasn't making any moves at all. Realising that she had been spotted, silhouetted against the dim brazier in the rafters, Brer approached cautiously, holding her unbound hand out empty to show her lack of aggressive intent. The figure didn't move. Then Brer realised why; it was a corpse, and not a fresh one at that. The individual had been male, that much she could tell from its clothes, but it was now almost mummified with age. There was a sign pinned to its chest, much faded with time and weather.
Bea floated closer and raised a tiny spark and by this small illumination Brer could just make out "W---ome to the H-d--ut of --- Skull Gang". Obviously many years ago an outlaw band had made this location their base but surely they were long gone now.
[Event: Jack - Surrounded]
Just as that comforting thought was going through her head she heard a noise from outside the skull. It sounded like it was coming from where the neck would have been. Then another, this time from by the nose and then a third, from through a crack in the back of the cranium. Then more and more noises and Brer realised with a sinking feeling that she was surrounded and trapped, like a rabbit in a burrow.
Brer darted towards the jaws of the skull, sliding to a halt behind one of the two remaining huge teeth (each one was bigger than she) then carefully poking her head around to see what she could see...
